Where to Find and Activate All Great Runes in the Elden Ring

After defeating each central boss in Elden Ring, you’ll also receive a Great Rune reward. While the game has a variety of Great Runes to gather, each one provides a notable increase to your powers after swallowing a Rune Arc. However, most Great Runes require activation before they become useful. Getting a new one to discover it is ineffective might be irritating. Most of them are useless at first, so you might need help finding or knowing how to use them.

To ensure that you can only partially benefit from using a Great Rune, you must equip it at a Site of Grace and utilize a Rune Arc, a rare consumable. The Great Rune will remain in effect following the use of the Rune Arc until you pass away or switch to Great Runes. You must first activate the Great Runes by going to the corresponding Divine Tower before doing anything else. It’s a complicated, purposefully ambiguous procedure, just like many Elden Rings. Please be aware that this guide contains mainline boss battle spoilers before continuing. Here is a list of all the Divine Tower locations.

Godrick, located in the center of Stormveil Castle, must be defeated to get Godrick’s Great Rune. You will probably acquire this as the first Great Rune in Elden Ring. You must activate Godrick’s Great Rune by going to the neighboring Divine Tower to use it.

The Limgrave Divine Tower, connected to Stormveil Castle by a large bridge, is where Godrick’s Great Rune is triggered. Start from the Left side of Chamber Site of Grace in the northwest corner of the castle to travel there. You will be positioned behind the numerous fire turrets and archers operating the last gate leading to the main entrance. After passing these archers, turn left and follow the road that leads to the main gate. It’s advised to just run through unless you wish to kill a lot of foes there.

You will reach a narrow corridor where adversaries with crossbows are shooting explosive rounds at you after passing through the gate on the left. Once more, keep running. You will find a grassy space heading into a building on your left after passing through the following gate. There is an enemy lion, but it won’t follow you inside the structure. The Limgrave Tower Bridge Site of Grace is located through the building and up several stairs.

You must cross the bridge with the three enormous golems in front of you to get from here. The first two have axes, while the third has a bow in hand. A teleport gate behind the third one will take you to the Divine Tower’s entrance. You can enter the Limgrave Divine Tower from here. The door will unlock if you possess the Great Rune that isn’t activated. Take the elevator up once you’re inside, then move through the open archway to the Site of Grace and up the stairs. Two dead fingers can be seen on the tower’s summit, and the Great Rune should be visible hovering above the body. It can be interacted with to trigger Godrick’s Great Rune. Godrick’s Great Rune offers +5 to all qualities while it is engaged.

Rune of the Unborn, the Great

After conquering Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, one receives the Great Rune of the Unborn. The Raya Lucaria Academy in Liurnia, situated in the lake’s geographic center, is where Rennala can be found. Unlike the others, the Great Rune of the Unborn cannot be donned and does not require reactivation. Instead, the Great Rune of the Unborn enables “perfect rebirth,” which is another term for the ability to change your spec. As long as you have a Larval Tear, you can reassign your attribute points by speaking with Rennala in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library.

Great Rune of Gadahn

General Radahn, the shard bearer in Caelid, east of Limgrave, drops Radahn’s Great Rune. Redmane Castle, found on a small island south of Caelid, presents a difficulty for Gadahn. You must travel to the Divine Tower of Caelid, situated in the heart of Camelid on the northern coast, after collecting Radahn’s Great Rune.

The closest Site of Grace is Dragonbarrow West, and you must approach the Divine Tower from the south to reach it. As soon as you get to the tower, turn to the left and drop down onto the huge tree branch. Jump down to the tower’s exterior after following the unit there. Approach the ladder, which is being blocked by a foe. There will be another ladder in front of you at the top of the first ladder. Neglect it. Instead, turn right where you see an opponent standing in front of another ladder with a torch in his hand. To complete this, you’ll have to leap onto the stone arch and traverse its crumbling portions.

After ascending the tower, turn left and stand on the platform across the tower’s stone arch. Right around the corner, there will be an opponent. After eliminating them, proceed to another stone arch with a second ladder. After climbing the stairs, turn left to see a Site of Grace on a balcony. Jump across to it, then turn right into the passage. This will lead you up a few steps. Eventually, you’ll reach the elevator room.

Once the elevator has reached the top, exits to the balcony, and climbs the stairs to the Divine Tower’s summit, there is Radahn’s Great Rune, which has just been turned on. When activated, Radhan’s Great Rune increases health by 15%, stamina by 12.5%, and FP by 12.5%.

The Great Rune of Morgoth

By defeating Morgoth, the Omen King, one can gain Morgott’s Great Rune. Morgoth can be found in Lyndell, the Royal Capital, on the Altus Plateau. The battle for Morgott takes place at the Elden Throne, next to the Erdtree in the city’s southeast corner. It would help if you went to the Divine Tower of East Altus after getting Morgott’s Great Rune. It would help if you found the elevator to the Forbidden Lands to reach the Divine Tower of East Altus.

Select a Site of Grace on the city’s eastern side to return to the ground level. After that, you should keep moving northeast until you reach an area of the town where there is a tonne of dirt everywhere. From there, head east until you get a stone spiral staircase. There is an elevator at the top. As you ascend the elevator, keep going straight until you reach another building with an elevator. Take the elevator up, go to the Site of Grace, where a boss battle will soon commence, and then take the elevator back down. Head over to the opposite bridge and start crossing.

Everything will go black halfway across the bridge, and you’ll have to battle the Fell Twins, a pair of twin bosses. One wields an axe of flame, the other a sword of love. Once you’ve conquered them, head towards the Divine Tower. Outside the main door is a Site of Grace; enter, ride the elevator up, and go to the tower’s summit. You can activate Morgott’s Great Rune, interacting with the roof symbol. Morgoth’s Great Rune considerably increases your health stat by around 25%.

Great Rune of Rykard

Lord of Blasphemy, Rykard must be defeated to gain Rykard’s Great Rune. There are two methods to get to Rykard, which is situated in Volcano Manor on Mt. Gelmir in the western Altus Plateau. Players can locate the Audience Pathway, which leads to the boss encounter, by exploring Volcano Manor and moving up and through the castle. The second choice is to get in touch with the residents of Volcano Manor and join them. Then, one at a time, they will deliver three notes instructing you to invade and slaughter NPCs around the Lands Between. You will be given a choice to be teleported to the Audience Pathway by Lady Tanith after finishing all three.

It would help if you took Rykard’s Great Rune to the Divine Tower of West Altus after you defeated him. This Divine Tower sits just outside the gates of the capital city, south of Lyndell, and is reachable via the Sealed Tunnel.

To disclose the passage, you must either attack or roll into a series of imaginary walls in The Sealed Tunnel, a mine. The first one is on the right side, behind a chest, after entering the mine’s initial portion. You will next descend further into the mine via an elevator. To get to the following faux wall, go forward and over a tree limb, hit it, then move on. Following that, you will enter a space with a large tree branch crossing it and a lower area. Although there are goods below, you must move through the tree branches to the doorway on the left if you want to continue into the mine. There is a ladder that can be used to return to the beginning of the room if you should happen to fall.

Several tree branches within the entrance block a staircase. Go straight ahead after stepping off the platform to the right. In this region, several stone cluster adversaries will blow up if you approach them. You will encounter a cliff edge with several tree branches below towards the room’s finish. Use them as a guide to get to the bottom of the hole. Once you pass through the gap, you will arrive at the boss door of the dungeon. Start swinging at the walls or checking for notes left by other players showing where the fake walls are if you are stuck at any point during this dungeon.

The Onyx Lord is the boss of the Sealed Tunnel. Without any armor, the opponent is tall and wields a giant sword and gravity magic. A couple more locations contain this foe as only an elite mob. Once the Onyx Lord has been defeated, exit the boss area by the archway in the back. Use the alternate entrance to the return dungeon instead.

Proceed as previously, enter the Divine Tower, and ascend using the elevator. When you reach the top, take the way up to the tower’s summit to activate Rykard’s Great Rune. Rykard’s Great Rune heals health anytime you kill an enemy while it is equipped and active.

Great Rune Mohg

After defeating Mohg, Lord of Blood, in the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum, Mohg’s Great Rune is left behind. The route to Mohg is a little challenging to find. The good news in this situation is that Mohg’s Great Rune, like Morgott’s, gets triggered at the Divine Tower of East Altus. Twins Mohg and Morogott reside in the Divine Tower together. When Mohg’s Great Rune is activated, summons receive a blood blessing. This indicates that you get HP anytime a gather kills something, be it a spirit ash summon or another player.

Mohd, buried beneath Caelid, can be reached by two methods. The first is to finish the NPC questline for White-Faced Varre. Varre is first encountered right at the beginning of the game, where he dunked you for not having a maiden. He can then be found at the Rose Church near the lake in Liurnia’s southwest. He will provide you with some Festering Bloody Fingers there. He will grant you the Lord of Blood’s favor item, which he wants to be stained with the blood of a maiden, once you have three times invaded other players. The Church of Inhibition in Liurnia’s northeast is the nearest place to do this.

Varre will give you a reusable Bloody Finger if you return it to him. He will grant you the Pureblood Knight’s Medal if you speak with him again. You can use this item to travel to Mohg, but if you do so early on in the game, you could find it difficult to defeat him because he is a formidable foe.

After utilizing the Secret Haligtree Medallion to get to the Grand Lift of Rold, you can choose the second option. The first half of the Medallion is handed by an NPC hiding in a pot in the Village of the Albinaurics. The second half is in Castle Sol, in the eastern mountain range’s northernmost region, Mountaintops of the Giants. After defeating Commander Niall, that location’s boss, you can find it in Castle Sol.

Go to the Grand Lift of Rold with both halves and choose the secret medallion option to travel to the western portion of the Mountaintops of the Giants. In this case, go to the cliff of the west in the middle of the region, just to the north of the Yelough Anix Ruins.

A teleport gate can be found here, transporting you to the underground area of Mohd.

The Great Rune of Melania

After defeating Melania, Blade of Miquela, the player obtains Melania’s Great Rune. She is located in the northernmost region of the map at the Great Haligtree, more precisely at the Haligtree Roots. After figuring out the problem in Ordina, Liturgical Town, you can use a teleport gate to enter this region. After using the hidden Medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold, located in the north.

You must proceed to the Isolated Divine Tower after you have defeated Melania. This is reachable from Lyndell, the Ashen CapitalDivine,’s Bridge. The quickest route to the Divine Bridge, which is in the Weeping Peninsula, if you haven’t been there yet, is via a teleport trap chest that can be found at the top of the Tower of Return.

You can access the Divine Bridge immediately by opening that chest. A sleeping golem may be seen from there on the ground. A teleport portal that will take you directly to the Isolated Divine Tower is located to the golem’s left. Enter, ride the elevator to the top, and then follow the walkway until you reach the Divine Tower’s roof. The Great Rune of Melania can be activated here.

Players that strike foes can regain health lost due to damage thanks to Melania’s Great Rune. The duration of this window is brief, and while it is active, less HP can be regained from the Flask of Crimson Tears.
